Description
A hand-forged blacksmith hammer patterned after the Hofi style, made one at a time at our forge in Waco. Balanced for control and force, it moves hot metal with less effort and less strain on your arm, whether you are a working smith or just getting started at the anvil.
Handmade in Central Texas
Every hammer is forged by hand right here at our shop, the same tools we reach for at our own anvils. The head is forged and dressed by hand and hung on a hickory handle shaped for a comfortable, working grip. We make the tools we trust to make everything else.
The forged steel head
Forged and dressed by hand, with faces ready to work straight off the rack. The weight is set close to the eye and balanced so the hammer does the driving, not your shoulder.
The Hofi pattern
The Hofi style is known among smiths for its ergonomics. The geometry keeps the face landing flat and the weight working with your swing, so you move more metal per blow and feel it less in your wrist and elbow over a long session at the forge.
The hickory handle
American hickory, shaped for the loose, relaxed grip the Hofi technique calls for. Hickory soaks up shock without splitting, the reason it has handled striking tools for generations.
The two weights
Offered in a 2 lb and a 3 lb head. The lighter hammer favors control and longer sessions; the heavier moves more metal with each blow.
