Dinner Bell

Description

A hand-forged wrought iron dinner bell, the kind that brings everyone running with one good clang. Hang it on the porch or out by the barn, ring it for supper, and have a name or date stamped right into the iron to make it yours.

Handmade in Central Texas

Every bell is forged one at a time by hand at our shop in Waco. We have bent and hammered untold thousands of these triangles over the years, and they hang on porches all over the country. Each one is shaped by hand, so no two ring exactly alike.

The wrought iron triangle

Forged and bent by hand from solid round bar, the triangle is what gives the bell its clear, carrying ring. Heavier stock and a longer triangle ring deeper and louder, which is why we offer three sizes (see below).

The ringer

A forged rod that hangs right with the bell, so it is always there when you need to call everyone in. Run it around the inside of the triangle for a long, rolling ring, or strike one side for a single sharp note.

The hook

A hook forged into the bottom chord gives the ringer a place to hang and adds to the tone. The idea came from a triangle a customer brought in to restore, built years back by her late husband, with a ring ours could not match. The hook turned out to be the secret, and we have offered it on our bells ever since.

Personalization

On the medium and large bells, have a name, date, or short message stamped into the face, front or back. It turns a dinner bell into a keepsake, which is what makes these such a popular gift for weddings, anniversaries, housewarmings, and Christmas.
