Description
A 22-inch hand-forged camp axe sized for one or two hands, the do-everything axe for the firewood pile and the campsite. Big enough to split rounds and drop a small tree, short enough to pack in and limb with one hand.
Handmade in Central Texas
Every camp axe is forged one at a time by hand at our shop in Waco. The head is heated and hammered to shape, the edge is ground and sharpened by hand, and it is hung on a hickory handle fitted to that head. Because it is made by hand and not by machine, no two are quite identical.
The hand-forged steel head
Hand-forged from high carbon steel, heated and hammered to shape one piece at a time. Heavy enough to split and chop with real authority, light enough that you are not worn out after a load of firewood.
The hand-ground edge
Ground and honed by hand to take and hold a working edge. Sharp enough to limb and carve, tough enough to bite into seasoned rounds without rolling over. A few passes on a stone or a file bring it back.
The hickory handle
American hickory, the wood that has handled striking tools for generations because it soaks up shock without splitting. Twenty-two inches, the in-between length that swings one-handed for close work or two-handed when you need more power.
